Fun fact

He plays a Russian in a Canadian production and is the only one of the three leads who is neither. The show's central rivalry is Canada versus the United States, and the Russian is the American.

The verdict

American, from Aurora, Colorado, playing a Russian, in a Canadian show, shot in Muskoka. His Ilya Rozanov is the breakout of Heated Rivalry and got him an SNL hosting slot and an Emmy nomination out of it. Canada gave him the part and the payroll; it did not give him a passport. Half a point for showing up and doing the work here.
